Eastern Switzerland

Eastern Switzerland is picture-book pretty and offers many cultural and touristic delights. The magnificently ornate library of St Gallen's cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The relatively flat landscape of Thurgau attracts cyclists from all directions, while castles line both the Swiss shores of Lake Constance and the Rhine River. Carefully tended pastures and manicured apple orchards. Thundering Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Stein am Rhein. Hiking on the Toggenburg Sound Trail, between Unterwasser and Wildhaus. Climbing majestic Säntis mountain. Appenzell's contribution to this mix is a long line of rural and religious tradition and a fine line of stinky cheeses. Snow-capped Heidiland, Bad Ragaz's health spa and celebrated thermal baths. Also century-old traditions have made Eastern Switzerland an ideal haven for guests seeking health and wellness treatments.

Heiden
Heiden is a unique "Biedermeier" village with its typical classicism architecture high above Lake Constance (810 above sea level), and a scenic location in the Appenzellerland.
