Graubünden
Graubünden is the largest canton of Switzerland and largest holiday region at the same time. Graubünden is also home to the country's only (and Europe's oldest) national park. Tourism is the most important economic factor, indeed, half the population is involved in it. Who hasn't heard of the ultra-chic ski resorts of St Moritz, Davos and Klosters? And don't forget the thermal baths. Several are scattered across the canton, led by those of Vals, Scuol and Andeer. Graubünden boast high culture: It is the canton with the highest number of castles, and is home to various cultural assets such as the historic Monastry St. Johann in Müstair (UNESCO World Heritage). The scenic village of Soglio in the Val Bregaglia and the celebrated church in Zillis (on the way to Splügen) are cultural treasures of world standing. The same goes for the Rhaetian Railway, the largest private railway network in Switzerland. In 2008 the Albula / Bernina Landscapes were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Davos
Davos in Grisons is a place of superlatives: this holiday destination with international ambience is the largest resort in the Alps for mountain holidays, sport and conferences, at 1560 m the highest town in the Alps and a high-altitude health resort with a long tradition. Davos is proud to be host to the yearly conference of the WEF (World Economic Forum).
Maloja
At the treshold of the scenic Upper Engadine lake district and the Val Bregaglia with its striking mountain peaks lies the quaint village of Maloja. It has lost nothing of its relaxing yet inspiring character. Families are very welcome here. Maloja is also where the artist, Giovanni Segantini, lived and worked. The famous landscape that inspired his paintings can be enjoyed in the course of a leisurely walk.
Pontresina
Sweet-smelling pine and larch forests surround the Engadine resort and spa town of Pontresina (1820 m) in the highest side valley of the Upper Engadine. The long drawn-out village is a popular centre for hiking and climbing.
