Sardinia
Sardinia's turquoise sea and white sandy beaches rival the tropics. Away from the coast, the scenery can be similarly stunning with a pastoral quilt of forested mountain peaks, valleys of citrus groves and pastures of happily grazing cattle and sheep. Traditional culture thrives most vigorously in the heartland. Across the landscape are scattered over 3000 nuraghi, strange conical stone fortresses (dating back 1500 - 500 B.C. Also curious temples, tombs, mysterious menhirs and remains of entire Bronze Age villages reflect an ancient country rich in history and legends.

| Capo Testa, North of Sardinia | |
If you like rocky landscapes Capo Testa is a must-go when you travel to the north of Sardinia. You'll find wonderful shaped and weathered granite rock there. Many of these rocks bear resemblance to animials and thus were named after them. The combination with the deep blue sea, the wind and the waves is simply breathtaking. |
